Pretty girlfriend!

Posted: March 3, 2011 in Uncategorized

Interesting conversation with a friend this morning…

Friend: Were you at Baga last night?

Me: Yeah, were you there? I did not see you!

Friend: Pretty girlfriend!

Me: Huh???

And this conversation gets me to the topic of the day! Do we as a society tend to watch each friendship through coloured glasses? So the next time I go out to have a meal with a friend, who happens to be a girl, do I necessarily have to be seeing her?

This was a one off thing…however, it makes me think from the other perspective as well! Is it really possible for a lady and a man to be in a purely platonic “relationship”? Or it might just start as a platonic one…but as time goes by, it goes beyond?

Like Barbra Streisand & Bryan Adams sang in ‘I Finally Found Someone

“…it started over coffee; we started out as friends…

…it’s funny how from simple things the best things begin…”

What do you think?

  1. Twitter says:

No relationship between a girl and a boy can remain platonic for long..Either it goes beyond or it fades away with time…

  2. I think it can be just a platonic relationship too…and at times we know too much about friends of other gender to ever think of them as nething more than friends 🙂 but can’t guarantee that it will stay platonic from both the sides, one or the other most of the times sooner or later starts behaving weird and that is the time to shrug off ur shoulders and at times shrug of that friend too 🙂

I feel that two people from opposite genders can be the best of friends..in a totally platonic way, esp. if one of them or both are engaged to somebody else.
However, if both of them are single, then in long term, there is high probability of atleast one person developing feelings for the other one..
    My personal experience 🙂

“sooner or later starts behaving weird” Interesting thought!

    @Shilpa
You exactly echo my thought! Just want to add that over the commitment part also comes the other person’s respect for that relationship his/her friend is into!

@Manoj – Why is it showing twitter I have no idea!
I agree except for the case Shilpa pointed out!
